Batang Ai Longhouse and River Safari tour in Sarawak

The Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort is a perfect combination with your stay in Kuching city. This exclusive Sarawakian concept allows you to stay in a remote upriver area, whilst enjoying all the creature comforts of a modern resort which is situated on the serene shores of Batang Ai Lake in the heart of the rainforest and surrounded by wildlife and Iban culture. The 100 air conditioned rooms are in 11 indigenous timber longhouses, built in the traditional Iban way, raised on stilts with superb views of the lake. All are equipped with modern amenities including en suite bathroom, TV, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities.
Resort facilities include swimming pool, tennis court, restaurant and bar.
Activities on offer include nature walks with the resident naturalist, fishing, sunset cruise and river safaris where you get to meet the friendly native Ibans.
Day 1 You will be collected from your hotel in Kuching city at 8.30 am for the 41/2 hour scenic drive to Lemanak jetty. Enroute stop at Dayak trading town and a Chinese Farm to see how pepper and Cocoa are grown. Lunch is at Lachau village. Upon arrival at the jetty, take a pleasant journey to the Longhouse by motorised longboat, passing rice fields and fish farms.
You will receive a warm welcome by the natives and will enjoy their welcoming ritual and culture dances, followed by a tour of the longhouse. Watch the natives at work, making mats, baskets, handicrafts and mending fishing nets. After your Longhouse tour, your journey continues on to Batang Ai jetty where you will take the ferry to the Batang Ai Resort for your two night stay. Dinner is served at the resort.
Day 2 After breakfast at the resort, you will be taken to visit another Iban Longhouse by boat across a reservoir. Receive another warm welcome, followed by a blowpipe demonstration, or join the natives in their daily chores. Afterwards take a guided jungle walk to learn about the forest. Lunch is included. Late afternoon, depart the Longhouse and return to the Batang Ai Resort by boat where dinner is served.
Day 3 After breakfast, depart the resort by boat, followed by a road transfer back to Kuching City. Lunch is served enroute.

WHAT TO BRING / IMPORTANT INFORMATION
For our tour extensions we recommend that you bring insect repellent, sun block, binoculars, torch, raincoat, swim wear, drinking water for the journey, hat, comfortable walking shoes, toiletries and towel. For the Mulu Caves Adventure please note that you are only allowed 10 kg on your flight from Miri to Mulu. Your main luggage can be left back at your hotel.

A visit to a longhouse, the traditional dwelling of Sarawak's native tribes, is a must. The longhouse communities live together in a shared house. It is worth spending a couple of days in the jungle to have an authentic experience.
