Petronas Towers Soaring to 452 meters above the ground and with 88 floors the Petronas Towers were until recently the world's tallest freestanding building. This gleaming architectural delight inspired by the Five Pillars of Islam is the centrepiece of the ultra-modern Kuala Lumpur City Centre. Situated within the towers is the Petronas Philharmonic Hall home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Butterfly Park The park is located within walking distance of Orchid Garden and Butterfly Park. This colourful attraction features 6,000 butterflies from around 120 species.
Bird Park Located opposite Orchid Garden the Bird Park houses under one huge net many species of birds from around the world in an environment that has been recreated to resemble their natural habitat. Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens Located in Taman.
Tasik Perdana the Orchid Gardens house over 800 species of exotic Malaysian orchids including a few rare ones. Nearby the Hibiscus Gardens have more than 500 varieties on show in a variety of shades and colours.
Sultan Abdul Samad Building Kuala Lumpur's most photographed building, designed by British Architect A C Norman and built between 1894 and 1897. It is a beautiful blend of Victorian and Moorish architecture and is now the venue of the Supreme and High Court.
Memorial Library At the back of the Merdeka Square is the Memorial Library, a magnificent two storey colonial building which is both a public library and resource centre.
Bintang Walk Located in the city's Golden Triangle is the Bintang Walk on Jalan Bukit Bintang. This is the premier area for dining out, shopping and entertainment. The area contains several shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and coffee houses and for evening entertainment there are discotheques and karaoke pubs.
National Planetarium Situated on a hill within the Lake Gardens just behind the National Mosque. There is a viewing gallery and ancient observatory park. The space theatre screens two different shows and there is a 14 inch telescope in the observatory.
National Art Gallery Located on a 5.6 acre site at Jalan Temerloh, the National Art Gallery is flanked by the National Theatre and National Library. There are a number of galleries housing various permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Taman Tasik Perdana Built in the 1880`s and is the city's most popular park. It covers 91.6 acres and has a children's playground, jogging tracks, exercise stations and a lake with rowing boats. Regular musical and cultural performances also take place.
Deer Park This park occupies a hill slope leading down into a valley where tame deer roam freely including the tiny kancil. Visitors are allowed to mingle with the animals. Opening hours are from 09.00 -17.00 hrs daily.
Central Market This pre-war building was once Kuala Lumpur's wet market but it was renovated in the 1980`s and turned into an arts and culture centre. There are numerous shops and stalls selling souvenirs, bric-brac, antiques and handicrafts.
Railway Station This is one of the most photographed buildings in Kuala Lumpur. Designed by British architect A B Hubbock in 1910 and renovated in 1988. K.L Tower A great place to get a bird's eye view of the entire city. The tower has an observation tower and revolving restaurant.
